FAQ

Common questions.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Your file never leaves your device and is never sent to any server.

Can I compress a PNG to an exact KB size?

PNG is a lossless format, so quality cannot be reduced like JPG. We reduce the file size by scaling down dimensions. The result will be close to the target, but exact size is not guaranteed. For pixel-perfect size control, use JPG or WebP output instead.

Why does the compressed image look different?

Aggressive compression reduces quality. If the result looks too degraded, raise the target KB or increase the quality slider before downloading.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no server-side limit. Files are processed entirely in your browser. Very large files (over 20 MB) may slow down processing. For large batches, process in smaller groups.

Does the background tool use AI?

No. The background tool uses a color threshold to replace near-white pixels. It works best on clean studio photos with a plain white or light background. Complex backgrounds or soft shadows may not be fully replaced.
