Convert HEIC to JPG — No Upload Needed
iPhone HEIC photos converted to JPG entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device. Batch convert and download as ZIP.
How to convert HEIC to JPG
- Select your HEIC files. Drop them onto the box above or click to browse. Multiple files work — there is no batch limit.
- Click Convert to JPG. The converter loads once (~300 KB) and then runs entirely offline. No internet needed after that first load.
- Download your JPGs. Save each file individually or click Download all as ZIP to get everything in one archive.
Why does my iPhone save photos as HEIC?
Apple introduced HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) in iOS 11 as the default photo format. A HEIC photo is typically 50% smaller than an equivalent JPG while looking virtually identical. That is why your iPhone can store thousands of photos without filling storage.
The problem: Windows does not open HEIC files by default, most web forms only accept JPG or PNG, and many apps — including WhatsApp on older Android — cannot display HEIC. Converting to JPG solves all of these at once.
Tips for HEIC conversion
- Large files take longer on Android. A 20 MP HEIC from iPhone 15 Pro may take 20–30 seconds on a mid-range Android phone. This is normal — the conversion runs on your device's CPU, not a server.
- Portrait mode photos. HEIC files with depth data (portrait mode, night mode) convert correctly — the converter extracts the main image layer. Depth data is not preserved in JPG, which is expected behavior.
- If a file fails to convert, try transferring it to your computer via USB or iCloud first, then converting. Some HEIF variants from very recent iPhone hardware can cause issues in browser-based converters.
- AirDrop from iPhone to Mac automatically converts HEIC to JPG unless you hold Option while accepting. Use this as an alternative if you are on a Mac.
FAQ
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. It compresses photos to roughly half the file size of JPG with no visible quality loss. The downside: Windows and most websites do not support it natively.
Can I convert HEIC to JPG without uploading my photos?
Yes — this tool converts entirely in your browser. Your files are never sent to any server. The conversion code loads from a CDN once, but your actual photos stay on your device throughout the entire process.
Does this work on Windows?
Yes. Works in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on Windows 10 and 11. No software installation, no codec downloads. Just open this page, drop your HEIC files, and download JPGs.
Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?
Yes. Select or drop as many .heic files as you need. The tool processes them in sequence and lets you download individually or as a single ZIP archive.
How long does conversion take?
A typical 3–8 MB HEIC file converts in 2–10 seconds on a modern device. The first conversion is slightly slower because the converter library loads once (~300 KB). Subsequent files in the same session are faster.
Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?
Minimal. This tool converts at 92% JPG quality, which is visually indistinguishable from the original for any practical use — job applications, form uploads, social media, printing. The output JPG will be larger than the HEIC file because JPG is less efficient, but the image quality is effectively the same.
